The Commemorative Air Force and the " Maxine Flournoy/Third Coast Squadron" in the Coastal Bend of Texas welcomes you to an opportunity to be a part of history! Our mission is to establish and maintain a permanent presence in the community so as to preserve and illustrate the history of many that served in the past and still serve in today’s military.
The Coastal Bend's history, complete with a strong Naval, and Army Aviation heritage, is one of the many reasons the Third Coast Squadron and the Commemorative Air Force have established a facility in Alice, the Hub City of South Texas. In addition, there are thousands of veterans who served in other branches of the service from the South Texas area that have been overlooked, and forgotten for the sacrifices they gave. Third Coast Squadron will not allow that to happen!
We continue to look toward the future as we remember the past. We are striving for goals that include WWII, Korean, and Vietnam-era airplanes on a local flight line. We have an exciting, growth oriented museum dedicated to collecting and preserving artifacts and oral histories from our veterans. By doing this, their memories and sacrifice can and will be shared with others, "Lest we forget". The ultimate goal is to have an airborne and static display that allows the local community to touch the metal, listen to the growl of powerful piston-engine aircraft, the roar of a jet turbine and experience history as never before.
The Maxine Flournoy/Third Coast Squadron, as a unit of the CAF, is going to follow in the footsteps of those individuals who have established museums and educational facilities in their towns around the country. Because the Coastal Bend has a long tradition of military history dating back to World War II, it is only fitting that a facility be put to use that will preserve these memories.
